Product Overview:
Irganox® L 135 is a non-staining, liquid phenolic antioxidant developed by BASF for the demanding needs of the lubricant and industrial fluids markets. This high-performance additive protects base oils from oxidative degradation, extending service life, reducing sludge formation, and improving thermal stability under harsh operating conditions.
BASF Irganox L 135 is a high molecular weight liquid phenolic antioxidant used
to provide enhanced thermo-oxidative stability in lubricants. Irganox L 135 has
low volatility and outperforms traditional antioxidants like BHT when analyzed via
Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Irganox L 135 is suitable for use at 0.1-0.5%
in industrial lubricants, 0.2-0.8% in engine oils and transmission fluids. Irganox L
135 provides superior protection against oxidation and deposit formation. Irganox
L 135 is marketed by BASF for protection of plastics and coatings under the
Irganox 1135 label. Irganox L 135 and Irganox 1135 are chemically identical and
share the same CAS# 125643-61-0. Consequently, Irganox L 135 is also
suitable for stabilizing flexible polyurethane slabstock foam. Supplied as a clear,
yellow to amber liquid.
While Irganox L 135 is a good product, it is TRiiSO's opinion that Evernox 1135 is
a much better option. Evernox 1135 is a phenolic antioxidant based on
benzenepropanoic acid, 3,5-bis (1,1-dimethylethyl)-4-hydroxy-, C7-9-branched
alkyl esters. Evernox 1135 is a direct drop-in replacement for Irganox L 135
(chemically identical) and shares the same CAS# 125643-61-0. It is important to
note that while Evernox 1135 is marketed to protect plastics and coatings as an
alternative to Irganox 1135, Evernox 1135 is equally suited to provide
thermo-oxidative stability for hydraulic fluids, metalworking fluids, industrial gear
oils, turbine oils, polyglycols, and for use with natural and synthetic esters.
Evernox 1135 can be used as a direct drop-in replacement for Irganox L 135 in
all applications.
